CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting - No. 1 device in the world for eliminating excess fat. Non-invasive and innovative technology that effectively targets and destroys fat cells underneath the skin, using only precisely controlled cooling, and leaving the body more sculpted and slimmer.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an innovative device that with controlled cooling can reduce the amount of fat cells up to 25% in the treated area per session. Patients can return to their normal activities right after the procedure. The controlled cooling treatment is especially gentle, allowing the body to naturally process the fat and eliminate the dead cells over time. The results may be seen within 2 months.

How CoolSculpting works?

CoolSculpting technology delivers precisely controlled cooling, targeting only the fat cells, and leaving the surrounding tissue (skin, blood vessels and nerves) unaffected. Areas, such as abdomen, thighs, flanks, arms, double chin, can all be treated.

The fat cells treated during the procedure are crystallised (frozen), slowly collapse and die. Over the course of time the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells.

The number of fat cells in our bodies becomes fixed during puberty; diets and weight-loss programmes reduce the volume, but not the size of these cells. Since CoolSculpting procedure eliminates the fat cells, it has been clinically proven that the results of the therapy are not only effective, but also long-lasting, and, following a healthy diet, permanent.

CoolSculpting procedure

Every patient’s body and desires are unique. Before procedures are carried out, a comprehensive assessment of the body is made (the so-called “360-degree approach”); in certain situations, a physiotherapist and/or a nutritionist takes part in the consultation. When the desired end-result is discussed, a customised procedure plan is created. Unlike many other fat-reduction procedures that mainly focus on reducing the amount of fat, with CoolSculpting the body is sculpted, giving it the desired shape.

The treatment of one area lasts 35-60 minutes, while the patient is comfortably laying or sitting. During the procedure – depending on the treatment area – we offer different options for relaxing, such as watching TV, reading a book or listening to music.

Before the treatment, the device is equipped with an applicator and a gel pad specifically designed for the treatment area. During the cooling therapy, the applicator with the pad is applied to the treatment area, drawing in the tissue in the vacuum applicator. Sense of coolness may be experienced during the first minutes of the procedure.

All applicators are equipped with temperature cooling system that provides precisely controlled cooling of the fatty tissue. This control system is patented, and CoolSculpting is the only device in the world using it. Clinical studies have allowed the scientists to identify the precise temperature that is necessary for effective and safe therapy, as well as the duration of the procedure.

Mentioning-worthy is the fact that other cooling devices are manually controlled, resulting in treatment that is not 100% safe, without effective control of the device, endangering the patient’s health or giving unsatisfactory results.

After the cooling procedure, the physiotherapist provides manual, 2 to 3-minute-long deep tissue massage to the treated area. It has been proven that the massage following the procedure improves the results of the therapy by up to 67%.

Immediately after the procedure, the patient may experience short-term redness, bruising, itching, decreased sensitivity. These symptoms disappear within a couple of days. Shortly after the procedure, patients have experienced deep tissue pain, which disappears within a couple of weeks.

How safe is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting are the leaders in the field of cryotherapy, which can be contributed to continuous clinical studies, research and technological advancement. The unique temperature control system provides instant shutting down of the device once it registers uneven or wrong temperature reading, preventing the risk of frostbites or scarring. Comparing to other cooling devices, where the settings are controlled manually by the person conducting the therapy, CoolSculpting removes human factor errors from the procedure.

Every procedure has a special protocol, and procedures are carried out by qualified specialists only that have attended courses led by cryotherapy experts (for more information, read on CoolSculpting University).

Over 60 clinical studies have been published on the procedure, proving the effectiveness, safety and long-lasting results of the treatment. Over 4 mil. procedures have been carried out, all having very high satisfaction rate (79% of all patients have been satisfied with the results; in the event of unsatisfactory results, the patient is offered an alternative programme for reaching the desired results).

At the present moment more than 5’000 CoolSculpting devices have been installed in 75 countries all across the world; 30% of all clinics have 2 or more devices, and 99% of the clinics use them actively. Aesthetic Dermatology Clinic of Prof. J. Kisis has the only CoolSculpting device in the Baltics.

Am I a candidate for the CoolSculpting treatment?

Almost anyone, who has a layer of fat that can be pinched, qualifies as a candidate. This cooling therapy is especially suited for areas that are extremely difficult (near impossible) to correct with exercise or dieting:
